For accounts with more than one restaurant, we first need to be sure we are setting up the SMP on the correct restaurant. The SMP should be set up for every restaurant, that is, if there are two or more restaurants per main account, we can set up an SMP individually for each restaurant:
Once we are certain that we are in the correct restaurant we want to set up the SMP, click “Meal Periods”
On the left hand margin of the admin page, and on the expanded menu, click “Special”.
The screen now goes to the Special Meal Period Setup:
Click “Add Special Meal Period”
The screen now goes to the “Special Meal Period Setup” window,
Where you will notice there are six steps in the setting up.
First, we need to give a name to the Special Meal Period we are setting up.
Let’s say we are setting up this SMP for the upcoming Valentine’s Day, February 14th, 2022.
(For this example, we are also not replacing or copying any meal period with this SMP, nor are we making online reservations available)
Click “Next”
On the next screen, you will see that step one has been completed.
We are now on Step 2, where we need to set the Start and End dates of the SMP. Since this is just for Valentine’s Day, we can set both the Start and End dates to February 14, 2022.
Then, we need to set the SMP ahead of all other meal periods:
Then, click “Next”
On the next screen, you will notice steps 1 and 2 have been completed, and we are now on Step 3,
Where we now need to set up the Start and End Times of the SMP.
For this example, we are not going to set a Lock Time. Then, click “Next”
On the next screen, you will note that we have completed 3 steps, and we are now on Step 4.
Here we need to set the Inventory for “In House”. Let’s say we are setting up four 2-covers and two 4-covers.
Since we did not make online reservations available, we do not have to set up any inventory for “Online”
Then, click “Next”
On the next screen, you will notice we have completed Steps 1 to 4, and we are now in Step 5.
This window shows us a summary of the settings we have made.
If everything is now satisfactory, click “Save Meal”
A confirmation that the settings for this Special Meal Period have been saved now appears.
And this window comes up next
Should we need to Copy, Edit or Delete this Special Mel Period, just click the corresponding tabs.
Let us explore some other possible settings.
Let’s say we are setting up a different SMP than the one we just did. Again, click on “Add Special Meal Period”
In Step 1, again we have to give a name to this Special Meal Period.
This time, we will be replacing a regular meal period, which is Dinner, with the SMP.
And we will also allow Internet (or online) Reservations.
Then, click “Next”
On the next screen, you will see Step 1 has been completed and we are now on Step 2, where we need to set the Start and End Dates.
And we need to set the SMP as the first priority among meals.
Then, click “Next”
On the next screen, Steps 1 and 2 are now completed, and here in Step 3, we need to set the Start and End Times of this SMP.
Then, click “Next”
And on the next screen, Steps 1 to 3 are now showing completed. Here in Step 4, we will set up our Inventory.
Let’s start with the “In House”, setting four 2-covers.
And since we allowed for Online or Internet Reservations, we also need to set an inventory for “Online”
After setting both “In House” and “Online” Inventories, click “Next”.
The next screen will show a summary of all the settings we have made for this SMP, and if everything is satisfactory, click “Save Meal”
Again, a confirmation that all the settings for this SMP have been saved will appear.
Which completes setting up of the Special Meal Period.
